Monterotondo, Roma - Italy
The CIRFOOD facility in Monterotondo, Rome, prepares two thousand meals a day for the local authority’s nursery and primary schools. There is a strong focus on raw material quality, with the use of organic, zero food mile, PDO and PGI products, and on combating food waste, thanks to the partnership with the “Il Pungiglione” social cooperative, which recovers and uses food which is not served.
Monterondo catering centre was designed on the basis of principles such as the technological improvement of production processes, food safety and hygiene, environmental impact reduction and quality of working environment.
“For us here at CIRFOOD, creating workplaces that combine quality of output, quality for workers and environmental sustainability,” Giorgio Righi, Centre and South Area Manager explains, “is a mission that represents the fundamental prerequisite for achieving our number one aim: school catering that meets small children’s nutritional needs and supports education in the right attitude to food, by promoting a culture of a healthy diet and of wellbeing in general.”
